What began as a program in one school 20 years ago has grown to become a national force for good, now annually serving more than 185,000 girls in 49 states and the District of Columbia – including girls right here in our community! In commemoration of our 20th birthday, we are excited for our year-long Born to Run celebration embracing all the diverse things we were born to do! At Girls on the Run, we envision a world where all girls know their limitless potential and are free to boldly pursue their dreams. Over the past 20 years, more than 1 million girls have participated in Girls on the Run. Over the next 20 years, we are excited to serve even more girls, empowering them to be their best and reach their goals.
As part of our Born to Run celebration throughout 2016, we encourage you to reflect upon what you were born to do. Were you born to love, celebrate, achieve, soar, dream?
Write what you were born to do on this “Born to _____” sign and let it motivate you to fulfill your limitless potential each day! Inspire others by sharing a photo of your sign to social media using #GOTRBorntoRun!
Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing stories and photos of Girls on the Run alumnae and supporters from the past 20 years who have been inspired to be joyful, healthy and confident through our program. Post how Girls on the Run has inspired you or why you love Girls on the Run on social media. Use the hashtag #GOTRBorntoRun so we can all celebrate together!
This fun, flexible activity sheet for GOTR girls asks them to answer, “What were you born to do?” Girls have artistic freedom to express themselves by writing or drawing their answers to the question on the activity sheet. We would love to see your favorite completed activity sheets and encourage you to send them to us by email at photos@girlsontherun.org.
Girls on the Run has empowered girls over the past 20 years thanks to the dedicated support of people like you! Whether you have a couple hours per week or per year, please consider getting involved as a SoleMate, coach or volunteer. Please also consider making a financial contribution to support our Girls on the Run council. Every dollar will help serve more girls in your community!
